Experience one of Southern Africa’s most iconic adventures on our full-day Sani Pass tour into the majestic Kingdom of Lesotho. Departing from Underberg at 09:00, you’ll journey in a luxury 4×4, climbing from 1,544 to 2,876 meters along a rugged mountain pass famed for its dramatic switchbacks and breathtaking views.
Along the way, we’ll pause at two border posts and several scenic viewpoints—perfect opportunities to capture the beauty of the Drakensberg. With our expert guides leading the way, you’ll not only enjoy the thrill of the ascent but also gain fascinating insights into the region’s wildlife, landscapes, and history.
In Lesotho, browse local curio shops before visiting a traditional Basotho homestead. Here, you’ll taste freshly baked bread straight from the open fire, hear captivating stories of Basotho heritage, and watch an authentic shepherd dance performance.
For lunch, choose between an authentic local restaurant or the famous Highest Pub in Africa, where hearty meals are paired with sweeping panoramic views.
After lunch, we begin the scenic descent of the Sani Pass, returning to Underberg at approximately 3:30 PM.
Transfers from Durban can be arranged on request.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE
The Highest Pub in Africa charges an entrance fee of R200 per adult and R100 per child under 12. This fee is not included in our tour price, as visits to the pub are subject to availability. Should your tour include a stop at the Highest Pub, the entrance fee will be payable on the day. This fee is however redeemable at the restaurant and bar and will be deducted from your bill.
Alternatively if the Highest Pub is fully booked we offer our guests the option of either having lunch at a lovely local Basotho restaurant, or feel free to bring along your own snacks and drinks for in the vehicle while on the tour! Of course should you prefer not to have lunch for religious or personal reasons that is absolutely fine too. Lesotho On Track
- Tiffany
