An extended day tour further into the heart of Lesotho to some the countries most remote villages – a true cultural immersion.

Activity Description

Venture deep into the Mountain Kingdom on this unforgettable day trip, traveling 60 km beyond the iconic Sani Pass. Begin with the thrilling climb up the legendary pass in a comfortable 4×4, taking in sweeping views of the Drakensberg cliffs and valleys. Immerse yourself in Basotho culture at a traditional homestead with freshly baked bread, storytelling, and a Basotho blanket demonstration, before ascending Black Mountain to admire Thabana Ntlenyana, Southern Africa’s highest peak. Explore the remote village of Makhapung, meet a local healer, and witness traditional dancing, then discover the historic town of Mokhotlong. The adventure concludes with lunch at Sani Top and a scenic descent back to Underberg.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE

Prior reservations are essential in order to have lunch at the Highest Pub in Africa. Unfortunately due to the lodges limited capacity entry is granted only to guests that will be eating with them, this also means that the lodge is unable to accommodate guests who wish solely to have a drink, use the WIFI, or restrooms.

Alternatively we offer our guests the option of either having lunch at a lovely local Basotho restaurant, or feel free to bring along your own snacks and drinks for in the vehicle while on the tour! Of course should you prefer not to have lunch for religious or personal reasons that is absolutely fine too. Kindly select your preference when making your booking and we will make the necessary arrangements.

If you choose to have lunch at The Highest Pub in Africa kindly note their lunch policy: If we have 10 or more guests on the tour in total, the Highest Pub in Africa require that ALL guests order from the set menu (adults – R220pp / kids U12 – R110 / Under 3 – no lunch charge). If we have less than 10 guests in total on the tour guests may order off the Ala carte menu (Price Range R100 – 250). Although we do our best to secure reservations in advance at the pub, availability cannot always be guaranteed.

The Highest Pub Set Menu Options: Chicken Curry, Beef Stroganoff, Veg Lasagna, Veg Stir-fry. All options come with a choice of starch and a selection of veg and salad.

If you’re staying within Underberg or Himeville but don’t see your accommodation listed in our pick up menu please contact us and we’ll confirm if a complimentary pick up will be possible. Please note that departure times may vary if you are being picked up from your accommodation – in this case we will confirm your exact pick up time with you.

What to WearWarmer Months (October – March): Opt for lightweight clothing, sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses. We also always recommend carrying a warm jacket, as temperatures may drop suddenly. Colder Months (April – September): Dress in warm layers, with outerwear suitable for snow, closed shoes, and accessories like a beanie and scarf.

No expired passports or copies will be accepted.
Kindly note that if you join the tour and are denied entry into Lesotho due to not having the required visa or valid passport, you will need to wait at the South African Border Post either until the tours returns, or a transfer at your own expense is available. No refund will be provided.
